FAQs
How long does it take to receive my photos?
A full day wedding typically takes anywhere from 30-60 days, depending on the time of year. Smaller events and elopements can be done in just a week or two. With family portraits, engagements, and branding sessions, the turnaround time is again, usually one-two weeks, depending on time of year. (fall minis, I’m looking at you!)
I ALWAYS deliver a handful of sneak peeks the night of the wedding so couples have a few stunning images immediately to share.
How many photos will I receive? And how will I receive them?
For most weddings, an average of anywhere between 50-75/hr, taking into account any time spent driving between locations/venues. For family, engagements, and branding, I always promise a minimum of 25-40 photos for an hour of shooting, but have been known to deliver over 70+!
I have a password protected online gallery for clients to upload at will and share with friends and family. Wedding clients also receive a jump drive hardcopy of all images in TIFF and JPEG to keep safe. I should also mention, that I never ever delete any finished galleries, so if 10 years down the road, you need a backup, I gotchu.
Do you do skin/body retouching on the photos?
I will crop and adjust photos as needed, and yes, I do retouch, just slightly, naturally, to show your best self without distraction. If you have a specific concern or are looking for something a little more heavy-handed, be sure to mention it to me and we can discuss further.
Why don’t I get all the raw photos?
This is a question I get often; it is standard that raw files are only sold for commercial purposes, & with the copyright also.
A photographer has the option of selling raw files to clients, but in doing so would be selling the copyright as well, & the standard price in Canada is $5000/per image, but can realistically be any price the photographer decides. Asking a photographer for the raws is like asking for the negatives-most wont do it without a very steep price tag. If a client is asking for raws, maybe they want to edit them, and that also is a big no-no. All professional photographers will have a contract that states no one is allowed to edit or alter the work, again standard, otherwise it would be breaking Canadian copyright law and the fines can be up to $25,000/per image altered. Yes, actually, so don’t put anyone’s photos through filters. Truly. Don’t.
I comb through thousands of photos, keeping the best images and tossing the ones where people have their eyes closed, blurry, under/over exposed, or just plain bad. I have no reason to withhold amazing photos from my clients, and I always go out of my way to deliver the best product possible!
Do you watermark images?
No, yuck.
Do you give discounts?
No. Never.
My work is worth the same amount 365 days a year.
I do however, offer more affordable mini sessions all year round, so there is a price point that works for most people.
Are you insured and licensed?
Heck yes I am, & $2 Million liability is industry standard.
Do you have a referral list for other vendors I may need for my wedding?
I do, and you can have it as soon as I receive your deposit ;)
